Loft Ensuite Bathroom Refurbishments

The Brief

Two tired loft ensuites, both under the eaves with sloping ceilings and skylights to work around. The owners wanted the plumbing done properly this time, quiet fittings, a walk-in shower on the contemporary side and a cleaner traditional set-up on the smaller of the two rooms. HES took both from tile-adhesive walls through to fully commissioned second fix.

What We Did

• Strip out and prep: Old tiles and adhesive removed back to sound substrate, damp patches treated, and services set out before new plaster went on.
• First fix plumbing: New hot and cold runs, waste routing planned for the eaves, chrome vertical towel rail spurs, and pressure tests before boarding.
• Contemporary ensuite: Walk-in shower with narrow beige tiles and a lit recess, thermostatic controls, wall-hung vanity with vessel basin, backlit round mirror, wall-hung WC on concealed cistern.
• Traditional ensuite: Pedestal basin on chrome legs, close-coupled WC, chrome heated towel rail matched to the finish across both rooms.
• Second fix and commissioning: All fittings tested, flushed, and handed over clean.

The Result

Two loft ensuites that make full use of the awkward roof geometry. Everything runs quietly, the finish is consistent between the rooms, and the client is left with fittings that will still look right in ten years' time.
